A too attractive hen? Advice, please!

Sounds like a big chickens feast is in order.

The others caught it too - 50 cockerels??!!

Even your "supposed to be the same breed" male is frustrated... one cockerel for only three hens? As soon as she hoves into sight, she is pounced. The poor dear!

Did you not know that a single male can handle 10-15 femmes without missing a beat? When there are more males than females, they gotta have some relief.

Im reminded of the joke about the lone 'lady of the evening' when the fleet pulls in - but I'll leave that for another discussion.....

What kind of chickens are they? I was wondering the same thing. Why so many Roos? 50 Roos to 4 pulllets/hens? I would think a chicken feast is in order too.

Hmmm... I hope the OP has a lot more hens around than just 3... Holy cow - 50 roo's! I'm going to

now!!!

If not though, in all honesty, you've REALLY gotta do something about all the roo's. Imagine if it was you in with that many "blank" crazed guys

Please set us straight on your situation so our advice can be more than what it is

a saddle and some perfume probably won't do a whole lot if we are understanding your post correctly

yes, cheap ugly cologne or perfume does take ink out of stuff.

I believe it is the amount of alcohol in the perfume- hence Cheep!( sorry, couldn't resist)

Plain alcohol works great on ink stains. So does hairspray!

Apologies, apologies for the hijack.

I am ROLLING ON THE FLOOR laughing! You lovely chicken keepers -- Thanks for the smiles. No, she doesn't live with the 50 roosters!!! I have 50 free range meat roos still waiting for freezer camp, and they wander around. They were chasing her on the day she decided to leave her hutch and the porch... She came back REALLY quickly! I have tried her in all of my breed pens -- I have 6 different ones -- and the only one where she gets any peace is in the Bantam pen...not because they're not interested, but because she can get on a higher roost than they can. Even in there, I feed her and her sister and water them by hand, because they don't like to leave their "sanctuary". In her "same breed" breed pen, the other hens gang up on her, too -- one day they pecked her bloody in about 5 seconds flat!

She's not missing any feathers -- She has an overprotective "chicken mama" that lurks at every change of quarters to make sure she's okay. We finally settled on the Bantam pen when she was so very unhappy in a solitary hutch...then her sister came to live with us, and she is even happier with her along.

I'll try something in the scent range to see if it helps! Thanks again. You all made my day!

ETA: The girl with the problem is an Ameracauna. I have Ameracaunas, Rhode Island Reds (breeders), Rhode Island Reds (layers) Barred Rocks (2 breeder groups) Blue Laced Red Wyandottes (Breeders) Sicilian Buttercups, Partridge Rocks, Speckled Sussex, and Delawares. The meat roos are Golden Comets, on their way to freezer camp at 16 wks. The GC's are the only free range except for the porch hen and the house roo.
