A tribute Page for our Lost Feathered Friends

My little Ellen, who died last week from an unknown cause. Although she was a bantam cochin, she made it up to the roost with the other Big Chickens every night. She told me chicken stories, and was SO cute shuffling around the yard in her bedroom slippers.

She was such a cheerful little lady, and had started laying the cutest little bantam eggs. She laid three, one every other day, then stopped, but it was around the time of really hot days and most of the pullets had stopped laying. She was in the coop in the morning, not out in the yard... I patted her and she snuggled a little bit, but she didn't come out of the coop when I went out to go take care of other tasks. I found her still there that night, cold and stiff and gone. I wish I'd been able to read the signs and fix whatever was wrong with her.

I will miss her little chuckle and purring sounds.

not sure if it was the heat or not, found him limp in the run, tried to cool him down, but didn't work.... dang heat! Not really sure if it was the heat, but he had other health stuff going on- bad leg etc.... hubby said it may have been something else entirely- they are with us such a short time, but what a treasure they are!
