No nothing's happened to her. It's just that she's such a sweet thing and takes such good care of each batch of new chicks that I thought I would post a little tribute to her. Most of you who've followed my threads know Ruth's story - how she had a twisted/crook neck and had to be force fed and then hand fed and isolated from flock. It took her a long time to fully recover but she really came around when I got a batch of Buffs she adopted and raised. Since then she likes to hang around The Yard with any babies and keeps an eye out on everyone.

With the newest batch of Itty Bitties on their first day out at one week old:

With the 8 weeks olds hanging out under the shade:

She still likes to get on my lap and have her feathers preened just like I would do when I was hand feeding her and giving her meds and massaging her twisted neck - all the while telling her "You will live through this and you will be beautiful and you will lay large green eggs." She did and she is and she does.

Here's what she looked like at a few months old - she just wasn't growing but her wings were. Everyone kept telling me how ugly and diseased she was and why didn't I just give up.

And here she is out free ranging in the sun:

Way to go Ruth - You've come a long way baby.

Thank you Cyn. I'm so sorry to hear about your Hawkeye. It's amazing how they can touch your heart isn't it?
