Help! Bumble foot!?

Our beloved rooster Hondo gets bumblefoot very often. So much so we have a protocol we follow all the time. We soak in epsom salt, take all the black spot off, and wrap it.

He gets better everytime. But this whole month has been a battle off and on.

His foot is swollen, and we keep taking the black spot off and squeezing the puss out but it keeps swelling. His while leg is huge now and I know he’s suffering.

I almost feel as if I should put him out of his misery but he is our best rooster! We love him so much. What can I do to help him get better?

Separate him with a hen or two (gentlest ones you have) so he's not too lonely but can still be contained and monitored. It's not normal for a chook to get bumblefoot very often. Is there something sharp he is continuously exposed to (very rough gravel, loose nails, etc.)? Since bumblefoot is a subcutaneous infection, it needs an opening to get under the skin, like a scrape or a poke.
I'm not an expert by any means, but I might try a warm or cold compress to bring down the swelling and slather that foot in DMSO (preferably the topical gel, but whatever you can get your hands on). It can be irritating if applied too often, but two or three times a day, separated by hours, shouldn't hurt. If you peel up the scab and squeeze pus out, you can put DMSO and/or 3x antibiotics and/or colloidal silver in the hole.
Soaking his foot too much could make the skin softer, too, and therefor more vulnerable to getting scraped and getting bumble again.

I agree that no chicken should be getting bumblefoot over and over. If you fixed the issues that caused it, maybe his was just not 100% eliminitated.

Have you tried PRID yet? That's a drawing salve.

I'd put him on some Amoxicillin.

Amoxicillin: 57 mg per pound of weight every 12 hours for 7 days. 250 mg twice a day for 7-10 days for a grown chicken.

Can you post a good picture of the spot you've been cleaning out and removing pus from? Not sure exactly where it is in the pictures above.
I'm going to give you a link to a thread where I explain how I treat very stubborn bumblefoot, and have had success with some really bad ones. It can sometimes be a slow process, so persistence can pay off. It sometimes can take multiple cleanings over a period of time to get it all out. Sometimes I use a curette, image below the link, to help clean it out, I got mine on amazon.

I’ll get a better picture for you, it’s right in his toes in a crease. And there was a spot on the very bottom that’s disappeared.
