Bumble foot?

I had a chicken with bumblefoot, ended up cutting the plug out with a sterilized utility knife and putting colloidal silver + DMSO in the hole. Wrapped foot for a few days and set her loose. Silver and DMSO won't require egg withdrawal and you can't overdose them on either product. I recommend a lower PPM silver - mine is around 8 or 9 PPM.

Bsmac, is this article a good approximation to what you do? Trying to learn myself, since I haven't dealt with bumblefoot yet.
Hi catumbrella! It is! I start with cleaning the birds foot a bit. I just use a little Vetricyn for that. Then I put some Prid drawing salve on the bumble. Then I fold a small pc. of gauze to cover her foot pad I also put Prid on the guaze. Then I wrap it with vet wrap being careful not to wrap it too tight. I also found a tape made by 3m called Next Care it is a foam based tape that is waterproof. Once you put it on it will not come off! I wrap a small pc. of that to cover the tag end of the vet wrap to keep it from unravelling I also wrap the foam tape over the Vetwrap it really does well to keep dirt out of the wound. I leave the bandage with Prid on for a couple of days then you can remove it and slowly work the black scrab and gently pull it off. Most of the time no blood if any very little. This is where I really concentrate on removing the infection, which looks kind of yellowish and has kind of a cheesey texture. Some talk about a plug of infection coming out with the scab but I really haven`t seen that. Then I use sterilized tweezers and a new Utility knife blade to dig out as much if not all of the infection as I can. Sometimes you will have to make it bleed a bit to get it. I just work slowly reassuring the bird that he/she is ok. If it bleeds too much to see what you are doing at this point I stop. I then spray the wound some Vetricyn then put some betadine on it. I then pack it with Neoporin (with no pain reliever) and put another pc. of guaze with more neosporin on it too. Wrap it with Vetwrap and then I use the 3m Nextcare tape again do the same and put the Nexcare tape over the Vetwrap. Leave it alone for a couple of days. If you get it wrapped well, dirt will not get in the wound. In a couple of days remove the bandage and see how it looks. If you see any yellowish cheesey stuff dig it out and repeat the process until fully healed. Sometimes it takes two or three rounds of the process to get all of he infection out. Sometimes on the first try! If you get all of the infection out the first time you will be amazed how quickly they can heal!
