Welcome to BYC! We all love to talk "chickens" here. If you have any specific questions, just post them on the forum and I'm sure you'll get lots of replies. We are here to help in any way we can. What kind of chicks are you picking up?

Thanks! It seems that everyone is so helpful and nice. We have bbs orpingtons, RIR, spangled old english, butchers and duke greys. I love our game roo's. Our spangled (aka *speckles* lol) is my pick out of all and is a big baby. He is also very unique and odd being that I have never seen one quite colored like him.

That's a nice variety. I have 4 Buff Orpingtons myself in my flock. They are very calm and gentle birds and my children, and now my granddaughter have made pets of them. Good luck with your new flock.

My husband ( justin) and I have a little boy that loves animals of all kinds. We love the look and presence of our game roos but also love the easy going/loving nature of the orps for lil guy. I also have started incubating eggs so I cant wait for him to see them hatch and watch the babies grow.

He'll love it. It's a great experience for children.

Your son is a lucky one. My parents wouldn't let me have pets. My older sister got them and when she got tired of them, then I cared for them. Who knows what goes on in parents' minds. BTW
welcome to BYC.

Nice to meet u diva! I agree fully, my parenys wasn't big on animals either. My husband and I have goats and chickens now and our little man (he turns one tomorrow btw) loves them all so much. Its amazing how the goats and chickens know to be easy around him or how when he goes with me to check the bator throughout the day he is so quiet and patient.

That is our lil man by the koi pond
