Hello, my beloved chicken, Winnie died about 20 minutes ago due to what we think was that she was egg bound. We brought her in this morning because she was poorly. We tried everything such as giving her olive oil, putting her in hot water and massageing her swollen abdomen and anything else we read might work. Today is Sunday so they're were no vets open so we called a helpline that would find one open in your area but unfortunately, it was too late. She wasn't eating or drinking and her breathing was heavily and crackly. She was too weak to move so we brought her in and kept her as warm as possible. When we went back in to see her, she'd passed away.

To anyone who thinks they're chicken is egg bound, seek medical advice immediately. They're heath deteriorates very quickly.

Rest in peace Winnie.

Thankyou.

I'm sorry for the passing of your girl Winnie. I've lost one of my flock to the same thing and it is hard to go through. I'm sure Winnie had a good life with you and was well cared for.

Thank you very much. It is yes, sorry to hear you lost yours too. I also lost my Isa Brown, Margaret to sour crop last year which was dreadful. I have another six, three of them are pullets, so I'll be keeping a close eye on them.

Thanks again.

Beth
