AAARRRRGGGGG Hova-Bator issues

I don't mean to barge in on this thread but I have my Hovabator warming up and I can't get the humidity to get past 55. I have all the rings filled up with water plus a small plate of water in there. Will that rise also when I add eggs?

Exactly. I had to turn mine by hand this last batch. Had no problems and a 60% hatch rate without weeding out the duds or candling.

Get out for under that chair!! We were all first time hatchers that got helping hands. The only way I figured out what your problem was or could have been anyhow is by having the same problem! I hope it helps

I must confess on the egg carton method I have never tried it, I have a turner so I don't need us a carton. However, I believe from what I have read here that you dont do anything different with temp or humidity and yes you take the lids off so the top of the egg is exposed. I'm sure if you searched you could find some pictures.

SuziQ are you hatching chicken eggs? if so 55% humidity is just fine for the first 18 days then it should be bumped up.
