**Update**I found them a good home today. Thank you to everyone for your help!

There are two American Pekins at a park and I'm wondering if I should bring them to my house. I have 10 Rhode Island Reds. I called Animal Control and they won't deal with it. There were 3, but now there's only 2. I fed them today and gave them a big bucket of water, but the park isn't anywhere near my house so it's not practical for me to check on them often. Somebody made a Facebook post hoping someone would want them, but no luck yet. My chickens are 1 year old they have a fenced in yard that's about 1/5 of an acre. I don't want to disturb my chickens, but maybe it could work out. Ant thoughts or suggestions? Thank you.

Pekins are pretty chill. They're like the Cornish cross of the duck world. They largely want to be by the food and water and that's about it.

So I say yeah, go for it. You can figure out boy/girl issues later and evaluate if it's an issue.

I would still check back at the pond after taking the two. While it's true the third might be dead, it's possible it got chased off and will come back. It would be sad of the other two weren't around and no one connected it to your two.

:welcome

What's your general location? I can maybe help find a duck rescue near you :).
Lake Co. Florida. The ducks are in Fruitland Park. Thank you! I did realize after I posted that I should call all the bird rescue places tomorrow, but any info you find would be appreciated.

It's tempting. I think they'd like it here. I will definitely check for the other duck if I end up taking them. Thank you for the info.

The pekins need rescuing as they are very vulnerable to both malnutrition and predation in a park.

Unfortunately, they are almost certainly abandoned drakes and do would need keeping separate from your hens. Female ducks can share space with hens, but not drakes as their make anatomy is not compatible with avhens' femake anatomy and they can severely damage a hen by mounting her.

Thanks so much for this information. I'll get them some help tomorrow. If I need to call Fish & Wildlife I can always do that.

Fish & Wildlife may not help and local wildlife rehabbers are probably not permitted to. I take in dumped domestic ducks and muscovy in trouble in Florida because no one else will do. I've twice had dumped cockerel/rooster brought to me, too, but they cannot stay with me as they are too noisy for my suburban back yard.
