He's turned into a real lover too. He likes to cuddle and i could hold him upside-down or on his side and he wouldn't care.

Thanks everyone for keeping up with his story.
I've told a few people here, but they always thinkIi'm insane for paying this much for a rooster. And I do understand that. However, I was at the vet with my puppy talking about my birds and some lady said
"i would never pay that much for a chicken" Then she made a comment on eating them. And I was kind of thinking,
well, you pay that kind of money for your dog. They are both pets, is it really that different? Chickens can make great pets, some birds have lived way into their teens, so they live as long as a dog. I really hate it when people judge how much an animal is worth based on where they are in the food chain.

I think it was a rude thing to say, I had just been trying to be nice and have a conversation after she was complaining about spending a few thousand on her dog who seems to have been getting hurt a lot.

I'm used to the eating jokes since I have my pet birds posted all over my Facebook, but sometimes it's just such an inappropriate thing to say to someone who is spending time, money, and love on a pet to keep them alive. I had people ask if I could eat them after they died even. UGH. ( I have nothing against eating chickens, but that's not what you ask people who are mourning a pet or worried about another.)

Anyways, sorry for ranting this is supposed to be a happy story. I really appreciate all of you who love your birds like I do and have taken the time to read. Obviously not everyone can invest the amount of money. We all make that call at some point when we own poultry. To keep going, or euthanize and keep them from suffering a drawn out death, and I happened to be very lucky this time. Mr. Riley Wattles is a very lucky little guy and I have a feeling he's going to be a very special bird his whole life.

He really is a special bird & he is lucky to find that one in a million special human mama to save him.
People can be thoughtless & stupid. Don't let that womans ignorance bother you. Feel pity for her as she obviously has a small mind & heart as well.
