Abandoned babies

Hi all,

So our broodyhen hatched 3 eggs this morning. She killed one (or it died quickly) and the other two she abandoned. One was fully hatched the other was in process.

The one in process is now free of its shell but has a bloody spot by its vent. Is this something that will heal or is this chick doomed?

I could use advice.

It should be ok, It dont look bad. Put some triple antibiotic on there withOUT "cain" pain reliever. Do you have a broody cage ?

I am not familiar with a broody cage. Will have to look that up. Triple antibiotic ointment I have. Thank you!

Ahhh gotcha. I have them under a heat lamp. I think they will both be okay. Phew!
