So, our silkie that stole eggs from all over the coop and coerced another chicken to help SIT on the nest (Because she'd stolen too many eggs) just abandonded the one baby that has hatched.

We had a spring storm blow in, and I was going to leave the puppies outside by the coop, since they can get under the oak tree, and they are mud-puppies 95% of the time anyway. Last minute I changed my mind and went out to get them. I was walking toward the coop and I could here Peep pepping up a storm! Then I realized that Peep was outside somewhere! found her, shibering soaknig wet in the middle of the yard, and no momma in sight. I thought about bringing her back into the coop, and hesitated since mom hadn't brought her in....

I got her dried off, got her to drink a little, eat a bit of banana, and she is now tucked into where I incubated eggs, cozy and warm, and not peeping as frantically as before.

So should I keep her in and put her in the brooder, or should I take her back outside? I don't want her to be abandoned in the coop and get killed in the mob.

Also, when I was drying her, I noticed a couple little red tiny worm-like things. i combed through the fuzz as best I could, and thought I got them off, but just found one crawling on me. What are they? Should I worry? Should I do anything, and if so, what?

Katie, who is talking to her bra again.

Keep her inside and rub some Sevin dust on her. I use it to keep mites off my adult chickens, so it should help, never heard of chickens having worm like things on them.
