The fire ant attack maybe the reason the parents abandon the squab.

The parents were taking care of it after the ants got to it though.

The Pigeon was doing really good with me feeding it twice a day but when I checked on it two days ago it's wing was mangled and it went into shock and died. I don't know for sure how it happened but I suspect that it had something to do with the father because he kept getting in the nest with the chick the day that it's wing got messed up.

I gave you bad advise keeping the squab near the parents. What worked for me; was tragic for you; I was hoping for the parents to resume feeding the squab.

I hope we (or someone) can benefit from this experience. Usually you will get a warning that the parents are attacking the squab.

I know pigeons like have two nest sites that they rotate between during the breeding season ( that is how my loft is set up). I feel bad and some what responsible for your loss Jak2002003.
