A few days back we found 3 duck eggs left behind. We opened one, because we assumed it was rotten. BUT IT WAS ALIVE AND NOT READY TO BE HATCHED YET. So now I have been incubating these 2 eggs for about 3 days now in my home made incubator! With a heat light and a bowl of water and a cover on top. they are sitting in a homemade nest of grass and fluff. They seem to be doing good. Because when i take them out, they wiggle a little bit. Its the only way i have determined life within the shell. i dont have any way to measure the heat, or humidity. but since they have been okay for these 3 days,im sure its all good. What should i do? Just keep my eye on them until i hear a peep? help please!!!

i feel for you. keep the light right on them and i would soak a couple dish towels in water and wrap them most of the way around to keep moisture in the egg. its tough i am sure. i find little creatures around here all the time some i save and some i cant. got a little 1/2 inch turtle walking across my drive a month ago . he is in a 90 gallon fish tank now and doing awesome. like i tell my wife, mother nature aint friendly and we cant save all off them but we try. i commend you for trying keep us posted.

So today I checked the eggs for movement. Nothing moved.

One egg is on the fast track to being hatched! I can see through a part of the shell. I think hes been pecking at the cell membrane???? is this correct? and its not in one spot in all around one side! SO excited!

called a zipper and he seems to be doing good. keep the moisture up if you can

i dont have years of experience but i have seen a few eggs start and take a whole day. i would get a towel and put warm water on it and put it around the eggs . he needs moistuer so he dont dry out when he tries getting out of the shell.

i lightly wrapped a wet warm rag around each. and I'm hoping it doesn't get in the way when he starts to hatch. ya know?
