So I thought I was done with breeding this year….
One of my buff hens went broody, I wasn’t expecting much because she wonders off eggs often, but this time she lay for a long time and I was hopeful she would pull through and end up with a chick if any eggs were fertile, however, I woke this morning to find she had abandoned them and they were freezing. Despite this, I thought they were quite far along and decided to warm them in my incubator just incase, what I wasn’t expecting was for them to start hatching this evening and I have been left unprepared.
I was wondering if anyone had experienced this and if (since it has been so quick) the chicks can be put with their mother since I have no setup for short notice and I wasn’t expecting the eggs to hatch.
