My family and I were camping this weekend. There was a gosling (I'd say about 3 months) that walked back and forth along the weeds for 2 hours and no mamma. It was getting dark and a friend said it probably won't make the night by itself so my girls and I got and and put it in a dog kennel outside. I was torn whether or not to interfere, but we did. Now it is home with us outside in tall grass in another 5x5 kennel I sometimes use for our chickens. It is eating and drinking fine. But I am unsure what to do now. If I find area where there are a lot of geese would it be "adopted" by another family? If we raise it long enough, would it be ok on it's own? I wasn't really interested in raising it, but will do what is best for it. I read that they prefer to be around other geese. I can see if rapture center would take it, but was curious if something other could be done. Thanks for any advice!

Since it's a wild gosling Is it Canada? Id contact a wild life rehabbers its illegal in most of the country to take a wild animal out of the wild even to save it's life. It was awfully sweet of you to rescue it though it most likely wouldn't have made it the night.

Just wanted to thank you for your reply and give an update. My dad noticed multiple geese families with babies the same age at a local river/park. We packed a picnic and brought the goose to the park and released it. It was accepted into a family almost instantly. We stuck around for an hour to make sure all was ok. We saw no problems and they all walked around, took baths and ate together. Yay!!!
