i move to Palm Isles Park in Apopka in July and just around the corner Intersection Welch and Rocksprings road is a lot with a boarded up trailer, there lives a beautiful rooster all by himself, i feel so bad for him, i feed him once in awhile but its suicide because i have to cross the street and there is always lots of traffic, i am amazed the rooster got never hit, i really would like to see himn on a farm with other chickens, makes me so sad, thank you and please let me know what i can do

unfortunately many areas won't let people have roosters and the ones that do, simply can't house many. it's kind of the sad side of chicken keeping, basically 50% of hachlings end up being roosters while the need for roosters is probably closer to 1%. I'd say if it's not bothering anyone where it is, it has a better chance at a good life right there and is probably finding plenty of things to forage on. your climate is close to the original tropical climate where the first domesticated chickens are thought to come from.

Maybe you can put out an ad or something saying free rooster to good home, meal, or tick control. That usually works to find roosters new homes. You said he is pretty, post pictures of him because people will be more interested if there is pictures.

For the info, more chicks turn out to be pullets than roos (1 in 3 chicks is a male). Still, that definitely leaves a surplus of roosters that need homes...

I wish I could take him but I live to far away... :(
My big rooster went missing almost a week ago... He was a beloved pet. As sad as am to have to replace him, I need another rooster. :hmm

I had several abandoned roosters. My first one was my very first rooster and was the best rooster ever. Then I had two others. One I had to get rid of because he was too big for my hens and the other tried to kill one of my hens. But they never attacked me. When you pick up a full grown rooster that is not used to you they usually don't attack @Star and eclipsa .
