Abdomen tear

One of my chicks just hatched, it has a tear around the umbilical insertion. Do I need to do anything or can anything be done for it?

One of my chicks just hatched, it has a tear around the umbilical insertion. Do I need to do anything or can anything be done for it?

Did the umbilical cord get pulled? Put small amount of an antibiotic ointment on it (nothing ending in "cain"toxic to chickens). If umbilical is still attached,do not remove,it will dry up and fall off. Watch for pecking from other chicks if there is blood/open sore. You may have to separate this little one,until it has healed. Watch for infection,this will heal very fast(young tissue heals fast)provided no infection results.

Not sure how it got pulled, i assume it happened when it hatched. I'll put some neosporin on it.
