My BR lays huuuuuge eggs. I still think it is amazing when you use the JUMBO egg cartons from the store and the ones your girls laid don't fit! Just makes you a bit more proud!

Our Ameraucana laid this large egg three days ago. Middle egg is a large egg from the store. Top l to r, Pekin duck, Ameraucan, duck, Ameraucan and Golden laced cochin. The bottom two we got today. The duck lays every day. She skipped a day, and then we got three.

I have an Ancona who just started laying 3 weeks ago, and every single egg I've gotten from her (every other day) has been like this. The carton won't even close!! They weigh around 4 oz. each and are almost always a double yolk. I'm not sure if she's a champion or a freak.

One hen lays very large eggs with water whites that are tasteless, anyone know why? The hens are brown shavers.

How old is she Margie? That could be a sign of an old hen.

Hello Golden Feather she's 12 months, the others bought at the same time lay normal eggs and all produce an egg a day. I was considering diet problems and have changed from laying pellets to a more mixed diet including wheat. Apart from the super sized eggs she is in good condition.

If the others are laying OK and it’s just this one hen, it is not a flock problem, it’s an individual hen problem. Don’t treat the whole flock because of one hen. As long as you are providing oyster shell on the side or somehow supplementing their calcium, what you are doing should not be a problem.

Below is a link to the Egg Quality Handbook about watery whites. At 12 months old it is not an age problem. Since it is just the one hen doing it and if she is doing it regularly, I suspect it’s a genetic problem. About everything else on that list would be a flock problem, not an individual problem. Disease, moldy food, ventilation, or handling would not be confined to one hen. That doesn’t leave much.
