has anyone ever seen a rooster face a big raccoon ?? i have a rooster that protected my cat .. my cat was fighting with a big raccoon and my rooster was still out at night and we could hear the cat and the raccoon fighting and my rooster ran over to the fighting and crowing like crazy he went over and got the raccoon away from here i don't know what happened down there but the raccoon or raccoons have never been back since and the cat is fine and the rooster is great ... i never saw this before of herd of this before

lol i don't know what one though my leghorn he is older or my partridge chantecler he is younger about 7-8 months old he is the boss of the yard now ... but i have never seen a raccoon here since that night so thats good i hope he can do that with foxes lol because i have them and coyotes to

I think he'd lose to the coyotes... the fox are more likely to come, like coons in small groups or alone.

And a full grown rooster might have weight advantage over a young fox.

well idk lol im more new to this my parents used to be farmers and raised chickens ducks geese cows horses but she said we just let them hatch and didn't try to candle them or anything just leave them and thats it lol ... well my chantecler is pretty big already .. when do they stop growing ?? because he is still young .... well the coyotes will be taking care of from my dogs .. i have a pitbul a sheep dog and a husky mix

Oh wow that's great how he was able to do that! Good for him!! I am really surprised a rooster was outside at night! You mean it was dark?

it was about 10-11 at night maybe 9-10 around there well i guess he wanted to keep the hens safe and i am not worried about any raccoon's taking my chicks or chickens i have 2 big roos and some small bantams that can be mean lol .. my two bantams tired to take on my chantecler rooster when he first came here ... ya my dogs are good with my chickens .. but my husky mix has a liking for my silkies lol idk why though

You must have lights outside then where the chickens are because I don't have and at night all my flock are 'blind as bats' as the old saying goes!
