O.K. so my lovely little chickens keep making a huge mess with the crumbles type food. I have the feeder raised, they get corn for scratching, other yummy goodies and they have a big run for foraging in but they are still making a huge mess. So I was thinking of trying the pellets to see if that would help, but the person at the feed store said most banty owners use crumbles and wasn't sure if the banties would actually eat the pellets.

Long story short anyone with banties what is your experience with feeding pellets?

I had the same question about pellets.
They(well at least my silkies) seem to like it better than crumbles.
I realized that is seramas can eat pellet food, why cant other breeds.
Pellets are great!

My smallest bantams like the japanese bantams, seramas, etc... can't eat pellets. They will toss them all around picking out the broken ones and then attack you whenever you come out with feed because they are hungry.

I have one bantam, not sure if she eats the pellets or not though. I mix the pellets and the crumbles 50/50 to keep everybody happy.

When I first started mixing them, they all picked around the pellets eating just the crumbles, but after a few days they were fine with it. Guess it just took them a bit to figure out it was food.
