Update
I just cleaned poop shelf and found that the dusting of pdz worked well. It was just enough to keep things from sticking. I’ll see how it goes over the weekend. At this rate even if it draws a lot of moisture I won’t be wasting a bunch of the pdz. Thank you all for your input.

How deep is the PDZ? Mine is about 1/2" thick and we have had steady rain for the last week well you know that too. No problems scooping the poop with a kitty litter scoop.

Now if I could find a place at the Lake of the Ozarks that would rent to 7 old farts riding bikes on Memorial weekend I'd be set for a visit.

I too only use less than a half inch of PDZ on the boards.

I don't find PDZ actually draws moisture from the atmosphere, even on our most humid days(90%'s), but if birds have runny poops it will definitely soak up the liquid and that does not sift well. Just came in from sift tap-sift-tap-sift-tap to get the wet PDZ thru the sifter.

IMO: as long as you are not coming to this forum to socialize, or post gratuitous pics, it's not social media. ;)

I’m trying a light dusting of the pdz. I think it will work for everyday cleaning through the week. Good luck finding a rental. The campgrounds will probably be your best bet.

I mix PDZ wth kiln dried bagged sawdust. Also easy to sift, smells fresh. Sawdust should break down quick enough for gardening use. Always has from the horse stalls anyway.

I had a black and white Phred many years ago. He was an awesome cat. But, he had long hair. He used to hang out by the mail box and jump out and smack my neighbor when she went jogging on our road! When some one drove into the yard, he'd go running to the door, growling!

I use the plastic top of a long narrow plastic bin as my poop board. It was broken on one corner and the hardware store let me take it which worked out for me because I had to shorten it a bit to fit under the roosts anyway.

Anyway, it's simplicity itself to scrape in the morning with 2 CHEAP plastic scrapers one pushing the poop onto the other. Periodically I pull the whole thing out and hose it down.

I don't use anything on the poop board. Sometimes I scoop up only poo. Some days the girls have been partying in there and I'm scraping up about 1-to-1 poo and pine shavings. It goes directly onto my compost pile every morning or, at most, every other day. Pine is so NOT a problem in the compost. It's already in small pieces and, mixed with the high-nitrogen droppings, it probably disappears within 96 hours. I wouldn't put PDZ or diatomaceous earth or anything else that didn't come up from the ground or eat what comes up from the ground in my compost EVER. And I don't see any need for such products or their expense when I collect the poo regularly.
