After candling my eggs and finding only 2 viable duck eggs, I decided to head over to TSC and pick up some ducks (and probably bantams since I am obsessed). Any advice? They seem so stinkin' clueless over the phone!! When I asked what kind of chicks they had, she said "Cornish rock and straight run."

Last minute advice????

P.S. OF COURSE - I will post pictures when I get home!!

I was there at 9 am this morning and they had straight run icea browns and assorted pullets, bantums, sex links and assorted ducks

so I got 2 ducks ,6 assorted pullets, 6 sex links, 4 bantums ( they are so TINY and so Cute) they are in a little box all their own afraid they may get hurt with everyone else...

so much for just going in for 6 pullets lol...

OH fun!! Our TSC only got in straight runs, and they're all gone now, so I ended up ordering my (first ever) chicks from My Pet Chicken. Can't wait to see your pics!

I went, I saw, the ducks conquered!!

They were just opening two boxes of ducks that just arrived. It was fate....

Here is what I ended up with. Of course, the TSC staff was clueless. I got the big guy for $1.50 because they needed to make room for the little ones. I am pretty sure he is a Pekin. The others are "assorted." Guesses please!!!

His head is dirty, not actually brown feathers:

This little guy is actually really sick right now. I don't think that he is going to make it. He is browner than he looks in the picture:

I got two of these because I am hoping that they are Cayugas!

And my last little mystery:

Thanks for your help!!

So true! I went in there to see if they got any sebrights (by chance) and walked out with 6 New Hampshires and 2 ducks that I thought to be Campbells that are probably Cayugas.

I needed another chick like I needed another hole in the head, and I really didn't need ducks! (One of my new babies in my avatar)
I'm just not so sure that two will be enough for me now.

I have grand visions of these ducks going for a walk down to the pond with the kids and I. We'll go fishing while they take a little swim and eat bugs and such. They are so beautiful and just so relaxing to watch.

I'm also hoping that they will eat the Japanese beatles that wreak havoc on my raspberry patches each year. That would be an added bonus!

(Just noticed that there are no duck "smilies" to play with yet. ????)
