I do not want to discourage you because new baby chicks are a real treat. Just be prepared that some may not make the journey and a few may not make it once they arrive. My last two orders have had some DOA's and it was discouraging. As long as you do all you can to keep the rest healthy then you have done your part. Celebrate the survivors and don't let the unfortunate ones ruin the experience. Easier said than done. Even with having ordered for several years I still feel remorseful over the ones that did not make it. I just wanted to prepare you so that you can still enjoy your new chicks. Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully they will all be fine. I have prepared myself for the worst, but i hope for the best. They will be here in about 15 minutes, hubby went to pick them up from the post office. I will take pics and post them when i figure out how to post them.

I received a batch on Tuesday and altough I had a few DOA the rest are doing great. I have some new breeds I have not raised before. It is always a fun time to get new chicks. Congratulations!

They are here and i love watching them. One out of 20 did not make it. It is alive, but it's leg is broke. It is stiff and standing straight out to the side. The others have been picking at him really bad. we put it in it's own box. we may have to put him down, i don't want it to suffer. Any ideas would be appreciated. We don't know what to do.
