Ahoy! My name is Tory, and I've had a flock in the past while living with my grandparents and I'm hoping to start my own very soon. (This upcoming year)

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I was raised around chickens for many years before getting married and moving cross country! My first chicken was a hen named Algae (I was a weird child) because her feathers shone green in the sunlight.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
0 but I hope to rectify that very soon!

(3) What breeds do you have?
My grandparents raised Black Cochin Bantams! I'm hoping to get into some Laced Wyandottes or Chanteclers!

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Handling, I love how feathers feel, and how the chickens (despite being Predominantly food for my family) can be very kind, like any other pet.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Currently I have my art/reading, living as a housewife right now has distanced me from other folks and hobbies as well.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
It's my husband, myself, our two dogs, a cat and a pair of fish for now. I work at home doing art and as a homemaker for my family.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
A friend of mine actually introduced me to the fb groups! We were talking about chickens and dream breeds, and they thought to introduce me to the group!

:welcome

Hi Tory, it's nice to have you here with us! What type of art work do you do?
Digital and traditional pencil for now! I do a lot of horses and dogs right now but I also love drawing other animals as well. People are hard however.

You can find my art on Deviantart, I go by Salindrai there! This is my most recent piece.

Thanks all for such a warm welcome, sometimes new forums can be cold or distant so its nice to feel a change of pace!

Maybe we'll see some chicken art in the future :)
