about to start hatching chickens

i am getting eggs soon and have created a styrofoam incubator, but i put the light bulb in the top of it and am wondering how tall most chicks are at birth because i dont want them to bump their heads...

make a cover out of hardware cloth around the bulb

I would relocate the bulb to the bottom.

Heat rises, and with the bulb at the top you could have cold spots and inconsistant temps.
