About what age should I switch to regular chicken feed? My chicks are only 4 weeks old this Saturday, and we just purchased a new bag of starter feed. After this feed is gone, would it be ok to switch to layer feed? When can I start the cracked corn and scratch?

Also, the chicks are outgrowing the brooder, (28 chicks in a 4 x 2 x 2 foot high brooder), and we are planning on letting them loose in the coop this weekend or next week. If I keep the heat lamp on, will the chicks be ok? What about letting the chicks on the roost?

Thanks,

Sweet corn Charlie

No Calcium content in layer feed is much too high for Chicks.

Only start to mix in corn when u take them off heat otherwise stick to starter feed until they are about 20 weeks old. If they look abit feeble then add in some growers pellets
