abrasive male duck with specific female duck

Maybe so My Muscovy who is my oldest at going on 7yrs isn't quite as aggressive as he was when a young mite. But he still has his moments he has 4 girls. My Runner at under 2yrs is still going strong but isn't rough at all on his females he has 6.

Hmmm, so maybe just depends on the fella or the breed or both!
I started with just one drake and a group of five gals and they never really accepted him - never hunkered and screamed every time (Cayugas).
My current ducks have a pretty good thing going on. I hatched the larger portion of the group, including one drake. He is a Cayuga/Runner. He's beautiful and pretty good with the girls.
My other three I got as a trio - pair of Welsh Harlequins and a Rouen hen. They love their boy, but sometimes he gets jealous of the sheer numbers that the other drake lords over him. He sneaks in there sometimes for some tail that isn't always reciprocated. I think the winter has helped them integrate more thoroughly though. Hoping for a smooth spring.

Makes a huge difference too if the girls are responsive to the drakes. My Runner and Buff females throw themselves at their Drake. And My Muscovy females love their drake too. They don't literally throw themselves at their drake, being older maybe they have more reserve. lol

It could very well be her color or lack of color that sets her apart from the other females.

It's our responsibility to protect our females [all our ducks] so if she is being a victim please make sure she is safe, You may have to make the hard decision to rehome her. If your not willing to rehome any of your drakes. That would give you 3 of each but that may not go over so good come spring when breeding season really gets under way. Drakes are really rough on their females. To the point of drowning by gang raping.
no need to worry about how well take care of my animals, or how much i care about them. Like i mentiond before everyone of my chickens/ducks has a name and a personality i talk to them and play with them etc. I watch for any ill behavior and make sure to fix the situations asap even if that means building a new area for them to live, which we have already done and plan to do again for some of our roosters. The ducks are all getting along well now.. we removed coco and spartacus ( angry boy and his girlfriend) for a while and now that they are back in with everyone they seem to be getting along well.

I wasn't saying you all weren't taking care of your animals, Just stressing how important it is to make sure our females aren't being singled out. We've all had to deal with issues. If not this something else.

Appreciate your update and now everyone is getting along. :thumbsup
