Abscess feather folicle?

I have a rooster with a nickel sized bump with a broken feather. Trying to figure out how to treat it. Any tips, tricks, or advice?

Can you post a photo? A warm, moist compress might be a good starting point.

It's about the size of a nickel.

You may need to make a small incision and squeeze (dig?) out the pus, but please hold off until someone more experience chimes in. Is it firm? Chicken pus is solid and cheese-like, not liquid.

It was cheese curd like. I cleaned much of it out, and am getting some hydrogen peroxide to try and finish cleaning it up.

Good job! Hydrogen peroxide can harm the good tissue. Do you have something else, or can you at least dilute it? Did you happen to get any photos?
