Hello. I recently was given a turkey poult that is extremely malnourished. He has come from a situation that was poor and he hasn't had a moment of socializing; how do I help him? I've been carrying him around a bit everyday, offering him treats but he doesn't seem interested because he is scared. Any thoughts will be welcomed.

If you provide a dish of water and a dish of turkey starter, does he eat and drink?

If he will eat turkey starter, that is probably better for him than any kind of treats.

Do you have him living with other turkey poults now, or is he living alone?
When you say he has had no "socializing," do you mean none with people or none with other turkeys?

Turkeys do best living with other turkeys, although if this poult is too weak he may need to grow stronger before he is ready for that.

For being scared, I think time and patience are the only way to fix it. He will eventually learn that you don't hurt him, and the things you do can be pleasant.

Turkey poults need to be shown their feed, several times a day for several days.
This is why I put chicks with turkey poults. There is a small chance of blackhead disease, but I haven't ever had to deal with it.
Can you get a couple chicken chicks to show it how to eat? How old is this "poult"?
