Abusive mama duck??

Has anyone ever had an egg hatch later than the others...3 days...and mama treat it like a frog she just found like she is trying to eat it?? I just got it out. Seems ok. Watching him close and warming him up. He’s coming around and half dried so

It could be the late duckling has something wrong with it.
Are there other ducklings that are OK?

That was my thought but I brought it in, warmed n dried it and gave it to my bantam who just hatched 3 other ducks. She tucked it in like a champ and it is perfect and healthy Digger is so spastic! Ugh
