I am building a coop that is 24" above the ground. I will place 1/2" hardware cloth around the bottom of the coop to keep out predators. I want to also install an access door to enable me to clean out under the coop but I want to be sure to make it predator proof as well. I will be using hardware cloth on both the outside and inside perimeters. But, I don't exactly know how to predator proof the door.

I don't think I made myself clear enough about the access door. I want to build an access door in the fence under the coop to be able to get under the coop for cleaning. That is the door I am need info as far as predator proofing it.

A good tight fit on the door and a secure latch should do the trick:

We used carabiners or dog-leash clips to secure the two latches top and bottom.

yes...eventually. I have to start out with the chicks hanging out under the coop as it is still a work in progress. So the run will be constructed right after completion.
