Accidental egg eating?

Help! I put my chooks in their coop to do a quick check up on them (ex-bats want to make sure all is going well) ... I took my head out and heard this loud pecking in the nesting box. Open lid to find broken egg and her pecking up the contents... evicted hens and cleaned it all up... she has never done this before (nor any of my hens) and the eggs were intact earlier in the day... after that I held an egg out to her and she didn't care.... was it just that she randomly pecked at it and it broke so she went 'oooh' and tried to eat the contents? Should I be worried?

It probably was an accident. Sometimes they break them moving them around or pushing them out of the nest

I agree, it could have been an accident, but keep an eye on that one and make sure it doesn’t become a habit.

Honestly don't remember... just yeeted it onto the compost pile.

Well, if you want to know if it was accidental, that would be a good thing to observe.
