Accidentally bought flock raiser instead of layena......

I actually switched to flock raiser because it is higher protein for molting season - if you girls are still laying regularly, add oyster shell if you have it - flock raiser has less calcium.

I've used flock raiser with my group of hens. -had a young bird, about 10 weeks old, in with the rest of the flock. -didn't want to worry about her eating layer feed so everyone got flock raiser. -just made certain they had access to oyster grit. -no problems and the laying hens continued to lay well.

Flock raiser is a great feed for all ages--it has 20% protein which is 4 % more than layer--great for hens, chicks, roosters--hust add some oystershell on the side to make up for the lesser calcium.

I've used Flock Raiser and just give them Oyster Shell to make up the Calcium
Thay may even lay more eggs with more protein

As others have stated there is no need to exchange the Flock Raiser for Layena. I've used Flock Raiser for years, from my day olds through the old birds. All have done well on it. In my limited experience the birds do well on a higher protein feed.

My layer feed is 16%, all flock is 18%. Sure wish there was 20% around me! My chickens sometimes show signs of not enough protein.

See if your store carries gamebird feed. Around here it has about 22% protein. You can mix it in with your layer feed.
