Accidentally Bought the Wrong Feed

Hey, so I had a mixup at the feed store.

I asked for Grower, I got starter, didn't realize until I got home.

I have 10 girls who are 15 weeks old, and 4 girls who are a year old, and two roosters.

I leave oyster shell out for all to have freely.

Can I feed this bag, or do I need to return it?

What's the difference between your stores Grower and Starter?

We feed a chick feed 20% protein still to our girls with oyster on side.

I don't know, it's a new to me brand.

I had to swap feed stores. I used to get purina, but this brand is MG? It seems to be a local texas brand. 20% protein.

Are you able to compare the tags?

I would think all Grower and Starter chick --unless medicated!-- would be at least close to the same?

Eta: you could always call them and ask them about it. They may know the differences off hand.

That's fine. A lot of us don't have choices. It's just starter crumbles until they lay eggs. Then it's all-flock or layer feed and oyster shell on the side.

A few days ago we switched to Kalmbach's Flock Maker. That's one product for baby chicks all the way up until they lay eggs too. It's 20% protein versus 18% the grower has. That doesn't matter as they free range and get tons of protein from bugs.

Keep it and feed it they will be perfectly fine.

Grower is usually oriented towards meat birds, starter is for chicks. You can feed any bird grower with no problem.

Definitely agree with the others to feed it. There's very little difference between the two as you can see on Kiki's spreadsheet.
