anyone have experience with the accurite digital temp/humidity unit. I bought at walmart for 7.99. The unit has a magnet on the back so I have it on my fridge right now but hope to use it in the spring for incubator.

i use one in my lg. and had three decent hatches with it showing 99 degrees at egg level and i use a regular them. that shows 102 at top of eggs so it must be pretty close to being right. bue the acurite is off on humidity by 3%. sojono

That's what I use in my LG and my GQF.
Of course, I have a 'regular' thermometer and an extra digital in there as back up.
It doesn't matter on the brand - just make sure it's calibrated correctly before you use it.

I have three, dont make the mistake I did, make sure you calibrate it before you actually use it so you know how far off the humidity reader is. Someone on here might know what thread it was posted on, on how to do it.

Just remember that household thermometers are only required to be accurate to within 2 degrees and after a couple of uses in a moist, enclosed bator, can then begin to malfunction. I have two Acurites, but one stopped working entirely and the other one is a degree off on temp and 5% high on humidity. I finally got tired of stressing over it and bought an actual incubator thermometer with a real accuracy rating of +/- .18 degree.
