So i started a acroponic ebb and flow system with a pond for a reservoir for my ducks and geese. My garden was getting trashed every other week by my goats and chickens, and my bedding around the coup was always getting wet from the rain. If you don't like/want ducks or geese you can use talapia fish to eat or you could put koi in there also. Then place your perches over the pond area to help with less mess in the coup as well as more nutrients for your plants.

I started some tomato seeds as well as some squash. I also took some cuttings from some tomato pants and just stuck them in. they seem to be doing fine after 4 days. I also took some lettuce that was victim to either a goat or chicken attack. i washed off the dirt from the roots and stuck them in. new leaves are already forming. I just started all these plants So i have to keep their swimming time limited to a little bit each day till my plants are big enough to absorb that much nutrient. I'm sure i will need about four more plant beds to handle the full load but time will tell. I hope everyone likes it.

Edit is a p.s. I am not done with it all. i have allot of finishing touches such as trim and what not to hide the ugly parts/nails and such. As well as allot of painting. The plastic is also temporary as all this can be expensive. I hope to have the clear panels up by next spring.

Very cool Steen!!

The next time you post pictures, could you make them bigger so I can see more of the details?

You've done a lot of work, good job. You have a real passion.

Thanks and keep sending pictures.

Thanks allot. It has been allot of work and allot more trim and paint and grow beds to build yet. and no problem on the thread i love this project. if you want any of these bigger let me know.

I really love this. I hated changing the duck goose water everyday . It was so disgusting and back breaking. Once my grow beds are fully running i will be smell free. check these vids out if you like.
this is one of the leading guys in this. He uses fish but build a pond under your perches and never mess with poop under your perches ever again. lettuce in 24 days. cabbage in 30 something. feed yourself and your flock endless amounts of organic greens.

I've been looking into rocket mass heater stoves allot also. This guy gave me my inspiration for heating the green house this winter. It will be a project coming up soon.

I really love the concept and its something I'd like to try when I get ducks one of these days. If its not too cold where you are try using some crayfish to help clean things up that the plants might not get! My hope would be that it could become pretty self sustaining. Well done!

it totally is self sustaining. I have a tee off my water feed that has a valve. this line feeds back into my pond down to the bottom and the water jets out constantly stirring up the bottom pooh silt. Crayfish is a good idea though. also one of the easiest ways to heat your green house with one of these acroponics systems in it is to heat your water. the warm water acts as a heater and will keep your green house warm. This method for heating a green house with a coup inside raises condensation concerns and ventilation is a must at that point to keep from getting frost bite..

the first link in the post above he uses fish but talks allot about how its self sustaining. ducks is no different
