My friend has lost about 30 chickens over a week or so. They free range during the day and are put up at night. Feed is checked for mold, etc.
ant thoughts? Also, what upon an initial exam would be helpful to know to look for which might give some clues. Thanks

More information needs to be given. The age of the chickens, were they vaccinated for Mareks disease, how long do they have these symptoms until death? There is definitely something contagious going on. Coccidiosis is one of the most common diseases in a chicken coop this time of year. It's symptoms are lethargy, lying around, puffed up, sleepy, then later maybe blood in poop. Corid liquid or powder is the treatment for all birds for 5 days. Dose is 1/2 tsp. powder or 2 tsp. liquid in 1 gallon water.

They are all ages. About a week from start of symptoms they stop eating, drinking and are dead. They were all supposed to be vaccinated for mareks disease. Just did an necropsy and the only. thing that was found was bloody stool in the lower intestine. Getting ready to Do a stool sample. Anything noticeable inside them to tell if it was merak's or anything ?

Blood work came back showing several different types of coccidiosis. There were also no tumers to suggest mareks.
