ACV in their water?

i was told today that maybe i should not give them ACV in their drinking water due the fact that it will dissolve the eggs when they start laying? i am confused? what should i do? maybe stop the ACV water when they get ready to lay?

My laying hens have ACV in their water. I have also had all my chicks on it all the way up to laying too.

Hi I use ACV with my laying flock and have great results. I have read a few blogs and articles saying it can cause issues with eggs. I have never found that to be the case I also know alot of people that use it in the water and in feed and they have no issues.

I think that problems may arise if one is using a very very large amount of ACV. Also I have read that ACV should not be used in High Heat times of the year. BUT others say it helps the stress that the birds suffer in High temperatures..So it can be confusing to say the least.

I can state that from my own experience I add about a TSP per gallon of water, I also ferment grains with ACV in the winter months for my girls and I have great egg production and healthy birds. The few times I have stopped using ACV i have seen a decline in egg production after a couple weeks and they seem to get pasty butt .
