Add a window?

My future coop is a converted metal shed (like a pole building).
The only opening besides the entrance door is a small (2' wide by 5' high) screened door that leads to the run. In nice weather & even not-so-nice I can leave this door open for air inside the coop as it is covered by an overhang.

The doors are not airtight so there is some air movement inside when they are shut.
I'd like to add a window for ventilation. How hard would it be to cut into the siding to add a small doublehung window?

I am a total doof when it comes to construction and would have this done by the neighbor who is redoing my fencing for the yard.

It would'nt be that hard. I'm sure the guy doing the fencing could handle it if he's a handy man. The window opening would have to be framed out to the size of the window. Probably could do that with 2x4's. I think the window is a good idea, not only for ventilation but, for light also. After the window is installed, you may want to cover it with hardware cloth as predators can rip the screen and get at your chickens. Woody

Thansk woody - I was thinking he could do it too & will ask

He has all the tools & is retired.

Plus I let him help himself to surplus fencing material from my pastures so he can feel like he's returning the favor.

Right now if it doesn't stop raining here soon I'll be asking him to build me an ark!
