Out of 6 straight run RIR chicks we got one year 3 were roos. At juvenile stage we discovered the fighting so 2 were set out of the coop to free range. Those two were the friendliest like little lap dogs. When they heard us walking down the path they came running and kids and adults alike could pet them. My oldest daughter would 'hypnotize' them by rubbing under his beak! Raccoons snatched them eventually. The 1 roo left has been aggressive from day one once the other 2 went out of the coop. Over a year later he may be dead at this very moment due to not backing down to me yesterday. He just kept flying at me and would dodge the hoe, like he learned to wait til it came, duck it and attack from below! In the past I was alpha and after a quick challenge he'd back down so I could do my business in the coop. For some reason he decided not to back down at all and we are talking about a small turkey sized roo! I was collecting eggs for the incubator but he does NOT need to be parent stock- he'll get the pot as he is upsetting the entire flock now.
