Hi everyone. So today I have received a purebred brown leghorn rooster to the girls and I just wanted to know if I have to separate them or can I just keep them together. He is the same or about the same age as my hens and when I put him in there; there was very little pecking and fighting. He just seemed to fit in right away. He is outside the coop right now eating with the girls and they don't mind one bit. So, the question is, should I still separate him or is he fine where is his now?

Shouldn't you quarantine the new bird first before adding him to your flock? I read a lot of threads and most people suggest to quarantine new birds to ensure they are safe and free from parasites. If you are 100% sure that the bird is free from any disease and parasites, i think you're good to go. No need to separate him as long as the girls accepted him as the new master of the flock.he will be happy to be with the girls for sure.

No need to separate him now. He's already had contact with the hens, so quarantine is a moot point. If there was little squabbling, I'd just put him in with them and let them work it out.

Good luck :)
