adding a computer fan to hovabator

Okay, thanks for all the help on my humidity problem. With the vents all open & no water I was able to get my humidity down to 38% and a temp of 100 this morning.

I went ahead and disassembled a 3.5x3.5" 110v comp fan and placed it on the bottom of my bator so it is blowing down through a 1/8" spacing on the bottom. Someone mentioned about putting a light dimmer switch to control.

According the the spec on the fan it is 110v/13W 2300rpm with an air flow of 30 cfm. With the fan pointing down and only a 1/8" space I would bet the air flow is more like 15-20 cfm.

Is this too fast/too mich air? should I slow it down with a dimmer switch? Can someone tell me the specs of an original fan?

I just put the fan in this morning , so I'll see how it does with the temp and humidity.

Boy o Boy...I came back 4 or 5 hours after I put in the fan and the temp was 112!!!! Now I think about it makes sense. I am pushing air across the warm coils so the temp would be hotter and more efficient.

I dailed the thermostat back and got the temps down to 100 for the last 2 hours.

I guess every little change you make inside there can make a big difference.

Yep - every change is a challenge!!

I probably am over watching my newest cooler-a-bator. Trying to get it regulated JUST right for my 2nd grader's classroom. Been working on this all week and still don't have the temps where I want them - too wide a swing in the temps still, although I'm getting pretty close on the average temp.

From my experience any time you add a fan you have to readjust the thermostat. Usually down..
