I have two RIR or Production Reds (not 100% sure) and I originally wanted Buff Orpingtons but the farm only had "RIR". The farm should have some BO by the end of September. My bird limit is three, so I want to add one more. My two current birds are doing really well and have adjusted way faster then I had expected to there new home. There's never any pecking or fighting between them. My concern is that if I introduce a new bird that it will course some friction and the two current birds will gang up on the new bird. Also, what would it do to laying? My one hen has been a really good layer since I brought them home.
I'm not really sure what kind of answers I am looking for from this post, maybe just some advise as to what others may do or have done in my situation.
The last thing I want to do is bring in another hen just to be used as a punching bag.
