Adding a rooster

....and don't you have multiple coops(one for each 'tribe'?) that are spread pretty far apart?
I am going to try that before giving up on the challenger. I have multiple coops but they're next to each other at the moment, and there is no regularity in their occupation, i.e. different birds in each one on any given night. If I separate them to different corners of the property, perhaps it will break the flock into subflocks, each with its own roo rather than one dominant with multiple subordinates.

I’m hoping this works for me as well if my new roo and current one have trouble getting along. My two coops are on either side of the house so hopefully that’s enough distance for them if they need it.

Getting Benny settled in. He and the banty have been crowing back and forth all day, but he hasn’t tried to find out where it’s coming from. The hens don’t seem to mind.

It took a little while to get used to the flock, but Benny is now following the others around most of the day, and he’s getting used to us too. The previous owner didn’t handle him much, but he hasn’t been too shy about hanging out with us. The introduction went really well, there’s been no fighting between the roosters, and some of the hens have already warmed up to him too.
