Adding an older rooster to the flock. Is this OK?

I am wanting a rooster. My chickens are 8weeks old. I have been given a rooster that is 13 weeks old. May I just add him into the flock?

Quarantine him first!

Then I'd house him in a dog crate for a bit inside the girls pen before just letting him in.
