I'm sure some of you have done this.... What were the results?
Thanks

They will hatch at the same time. The embryos make really quiet clicking sounds to each other when they internally pip. The other embryos here this and it hurries them up, ensuring no babies are left behind when mama leaves.

Cool. Ive added it and marked it, so I know to watch it and see if you're right! Thanks

I added an egg a day late to a broody hen, and after the others hatched, she abandoned it. I brought it in the house, hatched it overnight on a heating pad. The mama wouldn't accept it the next day.
In your incubator, what is your plan if it doesn't hatch w the others?

I dont know because Ive never used an incubator before? If there are slow pokes, I would pull out hatched chicks and put them in the brooder under heat lamp..and leave incubator on for a few more days...I guess?

If you open the incubator to remove the hatched chicks, they say humidity will drop drastically which could endanger the remaining egg(s). It's something to think about. Chicks can go a couple days without food or water. You could leave them in.
You'll probably be hearing from others who have been there, done that. I am also starting my first incubator batch this weekend. So I am not an experienced hatcher. I look forward to hearing what others advise.

Well I can easily add warm water to the incubator and get humidity really high quite quickly... I know this because it was at almost 100 percent in no time when I was experimenting with it.

My last hatch I added some eggs to a tray in the incubator the next day. The original eggs I put in the incubator were due to hatch on Tuesday and they did except for the ones I put in a day later, they hatched the next day. Good luck and have fun...

so did you leave everyone in until all were hatched?

I leave them in there for a few extra days and if they don't hatch I toss them. If they don't hatch much after day 25 they get tossed. They aren't going to hatch. Every egg I have opened the chick had expired. They were not meant to be. So far the latest hatch I have had was on day 25 which was a total surprise.
