Adding chick to flock?

I have six older pullets (going on 8 weeks) and one chick (going on 2 weeks). When is it "safe" to add the new one to the flock, weather permitting? They've had limited interactions where each sees the other. (We lost a pullet to a hawk and this is the replacement). Most of the pullets are Barred Rock and so is the chick.

Try letting him get a bit older and to the other chickens sizes..and try to let them interact / see each other more and establish pecking order with each other, and they should be able to get along and/or warm up to each other! Hope that works and helps!

House them next to each other, separated by wire, for at least a week.
Then try adding one of the olders to the younger, keep trying until one bird is fine with it.

Thanks for the advice. Gave it a try today and seemed to do a little better when the older chicks couldn't chase it. It's still scared of them though.
