Please gimme your tips.

I have a broody girl who's been sitting on eggs now 20 days. First one green egg went missing, and I checked again today and the brown egg is missing, she has one (bantam egg) left that will hatch tomorrow or so.

I am going to ZOOOOM to the feed store tomorrow and buy a couple of chicks to stuff under her. I need tips on making this work, the chicks at the feed store are a week old already!

Most people say add them at night, I just put a little box with the chicks beside the hen's nest and let her hear them, then slip them under and that's it!

Thanks, I didn't think about putting the box next to her so she could hear them.... I am just worried that they're a week old and will be more active than mom expects!

Well I didn't wait till night time.

I picked up the two chicks this afternoon, then hubby and I got busy building a little enclosure around her nest box. (what a calm relaxed chicken)

Hubby looked at me when we were done and said should I put one under her? SO I said lets go for it, we tucked a baby under each wing - Moon didn't move a feather. The babies who were peeping like crazy before meeting their mom, were suddenly silent! (Nice and Cozy!)

Moon is going to be so shocked, she is a Arucana - her new babies are polish!
