adding eggs under a broody

I am pretty sure my hen is serious about being broody. I have gathered eggs and kicked her off every time and she still goes back to hatch the golf balls for at least three or four days now. Lost my rooster so I have to buy eggs to put under her. Has anyone put duck and chicken eggs under one hen? Or should I just stick with one or the other? Is there anything special I need to do to put eggs under her or is sticking them under her at night enough? I had been trying to get a broody for years now but never planned on having to buy fertile eggs. I believe the hen is a Black Australorp, I forgot to ask when I bought them, how serious is this breed about being mothers?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have never done it though I just saw something on Pintrest today about hatching duck eggs under a chicken. I have added chicken eggs under a broody chicken before without issue. But I think you question is more about mixing species.

You can do duck and chicken eggs. Start the duck eggs first since they take longer to hatch, some longer than others depending on breed. Most take 28 days, if the breed you're setting is that amount of time, you'll want to give her the chicken eggs a week later.

Good luck!
